From Pot to Pup: Cyrus Sabzi’s Royal Chicken Recipe

Why I Cook Like This (and Why Cyrus Approves)

When you love your dog like family, you want to serve meals that do more than just fill their bowl—you want to nourish their soul. This method lets me prep everything fresh, freeze extras, and know exactly what’s going into Cyrus’ body (no sketchy labels, no junk).

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (skin on or off, your choice)

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1–2 cups filtered water

  • 2–3 carrots, shredded

  • 1–2 beets, diced

  • 1–2 sweet potatoes or potatoes, chopped

  • 1/2 cup chopped asparagus or green beans

  • Optional: peas, spinach, pumpkin, or squash

How I Cook It

Step 1: Pressure Cook the Chicken

Place the whole chicken in the Instant Pot with filtered water and turmeric. Set to high pressure for 40–50 minutes. Let it cool fully. Carefully remove all bones and shred the meat.

Step 2: Slow Cook the Veggies

In a slow cooker, add all your chopped vegetables with just enough water to soften them. Cook on low for 4–6 hours or until tender. Let cool.

Step 3: Mix & Store

Combine the shredded chicken with the cooled veggies. Spoon into freezer-safe containers. I use silicone molds or quart bags and freeze in 3-day portions. Store extras in the fridge for the week.

Cyrus’ Favorite Part? The Aroma.

Nothing makes my little lion perk up faster than the smell of turmeric chicken simmering in the kitchen. He knows it’s meal-prep day—and he’s ready.
